YOGA AND
MEDITATION
YOGA
AS A SYSTEM OF THERAPY
At Ayurniketan, Yoga has been
given prime importance as Ayurveda and Yoga are like sisters. As
in the case of Ayurveda, yoga also aims at good health,
happiness and longevity. Yoga as a therapy, has great curative
value and it is preventive as well. Yoga practices are very
effective in treating stress related diseases such as
hypertension, diabetes, asthma, arthritis, obesity, insomnia
etc.
The Philosophy of Yoga
Yoga is taught at our center, imbibing the spirit of the
philosophy of Yoga.
The word yoga means unity and is derived from the Sanskrit word
"yuj" which means to join. This unity is the union of the
individual self and the Universal Self. It also means the
harmonious union of the mind, body and spirit. Yoga aims at
bringing the different bodily functions into perfect
coordination.

The practice of asana integrates and harmonises the body and
mind. Its aim is to release the tension of body and mind, acting
through the body to the mind. Regular practice of yogasana
maintains the physical body in an optimal condition and promotes
health even in an unhealthy body
At ayurniketan, detailed
information is given to inmates on yoga a practices suiting to
the physical and mental condition of each individual.
PRANAYAMA AND MEDITAION
Pranayama , the regular and rhythmic control of breath, is yogic
healing technique that can bring about an extra ordinary balance
in the consciousness.. At our centre regular practice of
pranayama is a part of the daily routine.
Meditation brings awareness, harmony and order to life. It helps
to make life pleasant and creative. The awakening of the
creative intelligence is the benediction of meditation.
Ayurniketan has developed certain simple methods of meditation,
which any aspirant can learn and practice easily and
effectively.
In addition to yoga practice, pranayama and meditation, we
employ pranic energisation, pranic healing and reiki healing to
get the optimum results in healing process.
